Decatur Police Arrest Suspect For the Murder Of His Grandmother

DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department issued a statement concerning the arrest of a suspect who has been charged with murder after investigators were called to the residence on Locust Street for a welfare check:

“On June 11, 2021, at approximately 12:04 a.m., officers with the Decatur Police Department responded to 1610 Locust ST SE in reference to a welfare check.
Upon arrival, officers located a deceased female inside the residence with multiple stab wounds. She was identified as 66-year-old Deborah Patterson.
Through the course of the investigation, Aaron Micheal Brown, 19, of Decatur, was identified as a suspect. Brown is the victim’s grandson.
Brown was charged with murder and booked into the Morgan County Correctional Facility in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
“The above listed defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
