DECATUR-The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department released a statement concerning the arrest of a Decatur man who has been charged with several counts of possession of child pornography:

“On November, 3, 2021, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office Investigators Brooks and Byrd assisted Special Agents with Attorney General Steve Marshall in the arrest of Jason Heath Putnam, 47 of Decatur on multiple counts of possession of child pornography.
Putnam was transported to and booked in the Morgan County Jail with a $300,000 bond.
Putnam was arrested on a warrant brought by Special Agents and is specifically charged with 30 counts of possession of child pornography, a class C felony. If convicted, he faces a penalty of one year and a day to 10 years for each count.
Arrests are public information. Any indication of an individual’s arrest does not imply they have been convicted of a crime. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Bonds, if applicable, are set by the courts using the bond schedule passed by the legislature.”
