Deborah Joan Barnett, 69, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was born September 22, 1956, in Tupelo to John Robert and Celia Mae Christian McMillen. Deborah’s years were devoted to her daughters. Deborah worked hard until a heart attack slowed her down at the age of 50.
Deborah’s talents were many. Cooking and growing beautiful flowers were just a few. She loved fishing, reading, and playing card games. She loved her family fiercely and had great love for her many animals, especially her dog Bailey. She leaves a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew her and she will truly be missed.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 29, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mantachie. The family will receive visitors at the cemetery following the service. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her mother, Celia McMillen, of Fulton; three daughters, Angie Tidwell (Clint) of Blue Mountain, Samantha Barnett of Mantachie, and Hannah Buss (Scott) of Skyline; one sister, Penny Johns (Brent) of Fulton; her aunt, Cathy Huddleston, of Mantachie; and four grandchildren, Ty Brody Wilburn, Scarlett Barnett, Max Tidwell, and Bryson Buss.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Robert McMillen, and her brother, Rickey McMillen.
