Debbie Watts of Arab, Alabama passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the age of 64 after a courageous 6-week battle following a stroke. She was a loving wife, committed mother, and caring Nana. A devoted friend, a tender smile, a generous spirit, and a dedicated servant heart of God. There was never a person whom she couldn’t befriend.
In addition to her fierce dedication to her family, she also enjoyed the beach, crafts, music, cookouts, and working with the kids of all ages in Arab City Schools. In 1979, she married her loving husband of 46 years, Derril Watts. She and Derril shared so many wonderful experiences during their years together.
She was born on September 8, 1960 in Houston, MS and grew up in the small town of Dentontown, MS outside of Calhoun City. She was a graduate of Calhoun City High School and studied at Wood Junior College.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Grady Denton, mother, Barbara Denton, and brother, Russell Denton.
She is survived by three sons, Brad Watts (Jessica Watts), Chris Watts, and Stephen Watts, all of Arab, AL. She also had five grandchildren Ben Watts, Josh Watts, Addie Henderson, and Camdyn Watts, of Arab, and Chey Henderson of Central City, NE. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Doug Denton (Brandy Denton) of Dentontown, MS, and sister, Cindy Fowler (Jeff Fowler) of Walthall, MS.
A memorial service will be announced upon completion of plans. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
