David Wayne Jeffreys David Wayne Jeffreys, age 71, currently of Decatur, Alabama and previously a longtime resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, passed away after a long battle with Vascular Dementia, peacefully at his residence on September 11, 2025.

Born on March 20, 1954, David was a beloved husband, brother and friend. He was known for his kindness and quick wit. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for over 7 years. He worked as a programmer/analyst for over 40 years and loved what he did and loved the people he worked with. He loved his family, friends, pets, hunting, fishing, yardwork, fixing things and just staying busy. He took pride in all he did. Throughout his life, David touched the hearts of many.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 52 years, Helen “Cathy” Young Jeffreys; his sister, Rebecca Gale Jeffreys Franz; his brother, Robert Allen Jeffreys; his sister in law, Roxanne Carter Williams; his brother in law, Rodney H Carter, Jr; his brother in law, Richard Carter, Sr; nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog, Amie.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert D Jeffreys; his mother, Annie Elizabeth Jeffreys; and his brother in law Wayne “Randy” Young.

The family would like to thank Southern Care New Beacon Hospice; in particular Autumn, Kyle, and Sarah, for their compassion and care; and all the friends and family that visited and offered and gave support during the past few months. Your thoughtfulness did not go unnoticed.

No services will be held. There was a private gathering of immediate family. Donations can be made to Southern Care New Beacon Hospice or your local Alzheimer’s Association.
