David Shepherd Evans Jr., age 91, of Ashville, Alabama passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022. A A graveside service for David will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Hopewell Cemetery, Ashville, AL. Rodney Davis will officiate. Collier Butler Funeral Home will direct services. Mr. Evans attended Marion Military Institute and St. Bernard in Cullman, AL as well as Jacksonville State University. He was a veteran, having served with the US Air Force. He retired from Republic Steel Plant in Gadsden, AL. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle, horses, and dogs and conversating with all that came to Greensport Marina. He is preceded in death by his parents and loving wife , Margaret Evans. Mr. Evans is survived by his daughter Beth Evans Smith (Rick)and her children Erin and Richard; son David Evans III (Stephanie) and his children Courtney, David IV “Quade” and Josiah; and a long list of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thanks to those that helped care for him and keep him comfortable at home over the past 2 years. There will be no public visitation.
