F.03.05.24 David Reid.jpgDavid Reid, 60, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia.

David was born in Birmingham in 1963. He was lovingly adopted by D.B. and Arvilla Reid, becoming a lifelong resident of Tuscumbia. While attending Deshler High School, he truly enjoyed playing drums for the marching band. After graduation, David owned and operated Reid’s EZ Service on Highway 72, Tuscumbia. Later David accepted employment with the Alabama Forestry Commission to become a forest ranger. David loved running his dozer to suppress wildfires, working with VFD’s in various ways, and helping landowners with their many questions as well as school programs with his boss “Smokey Bear.” After retiring from AFC, he began working at Colbert County E911 as GIS manager. David always took great pride and care to ensure all Colbert County residents had their correct 911 address. David’s motto was always “If ever you need Police, Fire, or Ambulance I want to know I did everything I could to make sure they are able to locate you in an emergency.”

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Kimberly Thompson Reid; stepsister, Tina Garman and family (Florence); mother-in-law, Patricia Ann Thompson (Tuscumbia); sister-in-law, Amy Patterson and husband Chris Patterson (Sheffield); and niece, Madelyn C. Patterson (Sheffield).

Kim Reid would like to express her heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the 911 dispatcher on call, the entire 911 staff, all first responders involved as well as the staff of the HKH ER Department. She would also like to give special thanks to Dr. Paul Morris and his entire staff of Florence Heart and Endovascular Center for their loving care and treatment of both David and her over the past 14 years. They are more than doctor and staff, they are family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
