David Ray Strickland, 71, departed this life for his life in eternity from the Courtyards Health Care Center in Fulton after a period of declining health. David was born in Monroe County, Miss on April 111, l952 to the late Frances Strickland and Bobbie Allred Vann, who survives. David lived his whole life in Northeast Miss. His last employment before becoming disabled was in maintenance for Dacus Drug Company. He lived several decades in the Bissell/Palmetto area with his mother and step father, Bobbie and L. J. Vann. David enjoyed gardening and piddling around outdoors. He loved spending time with his nephew’s Great Dane, Big Boy. He was a longtime member of the Verona Pentecostal Church. Bobby was sharing a room with his beloved 88 year old mother at the Courtyards Nursing Center in Fulton at the time of his death.

A service celebrating David’s life will be held at Noon Monday, March 3, 2024 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with Bro. Sammy Hardin and Bro. John McAlister officiating. A committal service in the Chapel will be conducted by Chaplain John Cagle.   Private burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery in the Cason Community of Monroe County. David is survived by his mother, Bobbie J. Vann of the Courtyards in Fulton; a brother , Joel Strickland of Corinth and nephews, Daniel Strickland and Dustin Smith of Plantersville. He was preceded in death by his dad, L. J. Van who raised him; and two brothers, Homer Strickland and Jackie Strickland.
