David Ray BerryhillOur family regrets to announce the passing of David Ray Berryhill of Ardmore, Tennessee on January 18, 2024. David was 77 years old.

David was born to Lonnie and Jeanette Berryhill, on November 18, 1946, in Fayetteville, TN. As a youth, he lived in Sarasota, Florida; Key West, Florida; and Akron, OH, before returning to southern Tennessee. It was in Ardmore that he met his wife, Patricia. After serving in the Navy in Meridian, MS, he got a job as an airline mechanic for Delta Airlines in Atlanta, GA. David was very handy. He loved to work on cars and houses. He loved to stay busy by remodeling rooms in his house and rebuilding engines and transmissions, often helping friends by repairing their cars and houses, as well. He was active in the community, serving as the president of the Lion’s Club in Douglasville, GA.

He retired from Delta Airlines after 35 years and moved back to the northern Alabama/southern Tennessee area to be closer to family. He worked at DGS and PPG in Huntsville for several more years before finally retiring for good. After retirement, he loved to spend time with his family and his dogs Bella and Coco, as well as taking his boat out fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Berryhill and Jeanette (Solomon)Berryhill-Gilbert. His stepfather, Richard Gilbert, and his sister, Donna Tomes.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia (Newton)Berryhill, his children, Stephen (Lisa)Berryhill of Franklin, TN, and Cheryl Lowe of Ardmore, TN. His 5 grandchildren, Brooke (Preston)Hargrove, Dustin (Stephanie)Reece, Anthony (Andrea)Baumann, Baylee and Emma Berryhill. His 11 great grandchildren, Dylan, Colton, Wyatt, Kayleigh, Sydney, Jacob, Jenson, Marcy, Haden, Abigail, and Alexis.

David was deeply loved by his family and friends. He was respected and looked up to as a role model, grandfather, father and friend. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations, in his memory, to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The family has made plans to have a memorial service for Mr. Berryhill at a later date.

Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home is assisting the family with services.
