David Norman Schultz
February 15, 1933 – July 26, 2016
Our “Ramblin Wreck from Georgia Tech” is gone! – for God has called him home after an extended illness. He was the beloved husband of Suzanne Schultz for 63 years, and the father of Melanie M. Kanhai (Ricky), and Lily E. Shrader. He leaves granddaughters, Brittany Henegar (Evan), Elizabeth Shrader, Caitlyn Schultz, Julia Shrader and Rebekah Schultz; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh and Noah Shrader; and beloved dogs, Sissy and Frisky. Mr. Schultz was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Merrill Schultz, parents, Stanley Merrill Schultz and Margaret Hilda Wolfe Schultz, brother, Stanley Wolfe Schultz, and uncle, Norman L. Schultz.
David graduated with a B.S. in Physics from Birmingham-Southern College in 1953. He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor’s of Engineering in 1959, and again in 1968 with a Master’s of Science in Electrical Engineering.
He worked for NASA MSFC for 37 years, and also taught at Calhoun Junior College for several years. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Optimist Club, and was in “Who’s Who in the South”. David received numerous service awards with NASA.
There are no services planned at this time. There will be a family memorial service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ARK.
The family wishes to thank his beloved doctor, Don A. Evans, who has been so kind and patient for his wonderful care. The family also wishes to thank his caregivers, Virginia and Kim, Dennis, Beth, Caity and Jake, and Pastor Reggie Whiddon who has been there for us.
Rest well my darling, and remember our song: “You’ll Never Walk Alone”.
