In Loving Memory of Rev. David Mancel Crawford, Sr.
Rev. David Mancel Crawford, Sr., age 86, passed away on January 29, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Born June 6, 1937, Rev. Crawford dedicated his life to serving others and spreading the message of love and compassion. Throughout his 86 years, he touched the lives of countless individuals with his unwavering commitment to his faith and community.
Rev. Crawford is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Jo Ann Crawford, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared purpose. Their union was a testament to the enduring power of commitment and partnership.
He is also survived by his loving children, Monica Woodall (Tony), Rev. David Mancel Crawford, Jr. (Teresa), and Ryan Blackburn (Jason). Each of his children reflects the values of kindness and generosity instilled by their father.
Rev. Crawford leaves behind a beautiful legacy through his seven grandchildren: Ciera Payne (Brandon), Madison Akins (Dwayne), Lara Fowler (Zachary), Tonya DiRenzo (Mike), Caleb Woodall, Breanna Blackburn, and James David Blackburn. He delighted in their achievements and shared in their joys, leaving an indelible mark on each of their lives.
His 13 great-grandchildren, Courtney Clardy, Eliah Fowler, Addison DiRenzo, Madelyn DiRenzo, Silas Payne, Ellie Payne, David Akins, Crimson Akins, John Daniel Akins, Riley Woodall, Hayden Woodall, Evan Woodall, and Allie Woodall, were a constant source of joy and inspiration for Rev. Crawford. He found profound happiness in the laughter and innocence they brought into his life.
Rev. David Mancel Crawford, Sr. will be remembered for his wisdom, kindness, and the warmth of his heart. His impact on the lives of those around him will endure through the memories shared by family and friends. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that his love lives on in the hearts of those he touched.
A memorial service to celebrate Rev. Crawford’s life will be held on Thursday, February 1st at 11:00 a.m. with visitation on Wednesday, January 31st from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Thursday 9:00 a.m. until time of service at Scottsboro Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gideon’s International for Bibles to continue spreading God’s love in his honor.
