David Lee Porter

  David Lee Porter, age 61, of Section, Alabama, passed away on August 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved sports, fishing, hunting, singing, and, most of all, spending time with his family and friends. David also had a special God-given gift for music and could play the piano beautifully by ear. His love of music brought joy to many throughout his life as he sang at various gatherings.
David is survived by his loving wife, Ann Nix Porter; his sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Sherri Porter of Hollywood and Trevier and Mel Porter of Section; his brother, James Anthony Porter of Orlando, Florida; and his sisters, Donna (Terry) McCrackin of Scottsboro and Gina Porter of Section.
He was a proud grandfather to Liam, Tanner, Dalton, Conner, Gage, Alaia, and Grayson, who brought great joy to his life.
David is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary and Frankie Darwin and Melissa and Greg McCutchen, along with a host of nieces and nephews and many, many friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn  Porter; his mother, Ellie Mae Littles; his stepmother, Linda Tate Porter; his grandparents, Lee and Louise Porter and Elbert and Luna Garner; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Pallie Nix; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Susan and Kenny Hartline.
David will be remembered for his love of family, his friendship, his love of the outdoors and sports, his love for Auburn football, and the music he so naturally shared with others. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and the many friends whose lives he touched.
Visitation will be held at Rudder Funeral Home in Scottsboro on Monday, August 10, from 6:00 p.m. until closing.
Visitation will continue on Tuesday, August 11, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
The funeral service will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, at Rudder Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Macedonia Cemetery.
