David Lee Norton, 87, of Athens died Thursday at his residence. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2018 at First Christian Church with Clint Coffey officiating, burial in Roselawn Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Visitation is today from 3 to 6 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Norton was born March 1, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan. He was a member of First Christian Church in Athens. He was retired from Chemstrand-Monsanto, a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, 52-year member of Lodge 16 F.B.A.M., 1948 graduate of East Limestone High School and he attended Athens College.
Survivors are his loving wife of 62 years, Janice White Norton; son, Michael David Norton and wife, Marti Gernt Norton of Athens; granddaughter, Samantha Paige Norton of Athens; one niece and two nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Clarence Lee Norton and Hazel Scoggins Norton; and brother, Morris Glenn (Buzz) Norton.
Pallbearers will be Andy Norton, Kim Norton, Scott Hargrove, Grant White, Ronnie Ray White, Ronnie Lee White, Barry Hagood and Brent White. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Armstrong, Otis Armstrong, Russell Stinnett, David Bailey, Billy Maples and Marvin Todd.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or First Christian Church Memorial Fund.
