David Judson Rather, 73 of Graysville, passed away on Sunday April 14, 2019 at his residence. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War; a member of the Sumiton Church of Christ; and a retired Master Electrician from M&A Electrical. He loved being a Granddaddy.
Funeral services will be Tuesday April 16, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Ministers Neil Gilbert and David Lauderdale will officiate. Burial will follow in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Tuesday from 1-2 pm in the chapel.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cora Mendes and his first wife, Patricia Rather.
Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Dorthy Jane Rather; stepdaughters, Amanda Cook and Amy Austin Reeves (Chris); grandchildren, C.J., Aislynn and Trent Reeves; brothers, Robert and Richard Rather and Jerry Tart; sister, Janie Lowery (Johnny); four nephews and two nieces.
