David Harold Pope, 86, native of Elkton, Tennessee and resident of Tupelo for 57 years, won the victory of his faith on Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. David was born December 28, 1931 to the late Foster Pope and Vergie Massey Pope. David’s life centered around his family and his trade as a Farm Equipment Salesman at Implement Sales. He was an outstanding son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He doted over his family and made sure they knew of his love and concern for them every day. He was married 64 years to his highschool sweetheart Nell McNeese Pope. He was an extraordinarily kind man and great conversationalist that never met a stranger. He was an avid golfer and thoroughly enjoyed tending to his garden. He and Nell drove handicapped school bus routes for several years in the Tupelo Public School District. David attended Harrisburg Baptist Church where he was a member for over 50 years. There will be no public services per his request. He donated his body to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for medical research.Survivors include his daughter, Pam Hester of Tupelo. His brother Tracy Pope(Cathy) of Prospect, TN. His grandchildren, Michael David Hester(Monica) and Presley Peyton, Kinley Hester, Jane Hester; Zack Zybynski(Callie Waldo) of Verona and one great grandchild Haley and another on the way. He was preceded in death by his wife Nell, daughter Sandra Zybinski and two brothers Dean and Paul Pope.
