David Eugene Wilson

Visitation for Mr. David Eugene Wilson, age 79, will be held from 5 PM until 7 PM on Thursday, October 21, 2021 in the Shelton-Hunt Funeral Home Chapel in Humboldt, TN. Burial will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 in the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mount Vernon, IL.
He was born to Herman and Velma (Beckman) Wilson at home in Bonnie, IL the eighth child of thirteen children. Mr. Wilson served in the US Army 1961-1963 after which he married Glenda E. Gaddy on August 8, 1964 in Benton, IL.
Dave worked at General Radiator for many years at both the South 12 St and Woodland Drive locations. Dave and his family moved to Humboldt, TN in 1977 when he accepted a supervisor position at General Metals. Dave worked many years there and was given the nickname “Warden Wilson”. Later after retirement, he started working at BR Supply lnc. in 2014 for his good friend and company owner, Barry Reed. Dave made many good friends during his work years and felt many at BR Supply lnc. was “family”.
Preceding him in death were his wife Glenda E Wilson; parents, Herman and Velma Wilson; his father and mother-in-law, Frank and Essie Gaddy; siblings, lmogene Pilson, Joyce Wilson, Mildred Russell, Wanda Smith, Everett Wilson, Kenny Wilson, and Barbara Fullerton; in-laws, Barbara Wilson, Raymond Pilson, Charles Russell, and John Junior Smith.
Mr. Wilson is survived by three daughters, Diana York and husband Stan, Henning, TN, Cindy Rogers and husband Clyde “Butch” of Mt Vernon, IL, and Stephanie Strickland and husband David of Jackson, TN; three grandchildren, Christopher York of Henning, TN, Michael York and wife Chrystal of Brighton, TN and Jessica Nicholls and husband Louis of Mt Vernon, IL; five great grandchildren, Ryan and Jacob York of Brighton, TN and Carter, Chelsea, and Whitney Nicholls of Mt Vernon, IL; three sisters, Judy Williams and husband Darrell, Janice Laur and husband David and Verla Johnson and husband Jackie; two brothers, Herman “Junior” Wilson, Clyde Wilson and wife Marjorie; in-laws, Winston Fullerton, Dorothy Wilson, and Linda Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.
Dave enjoyed playing golf, watching sports on TV, working in his yard, fixing things for himself and others.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
