Mr.  David Elwyn Derrick, age 78, of Cannon Avenue, Guntersville, Alabama died on Sunday, July 19, 2020, at Marshall Medical Center South.

Memorial service will be held at Five o’clock p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at McRae Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be on Thursday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Derrick was born in Bath, New York on December 23, 1941, to Frank Elwyn & Frances Derrick. He was a retired Quality Control Manager with Ingersol Rand an Air Compressor Manufacturer. He was also the financial officer and a former Commander at the American Legion #8, Guntersville, Alabama.

Mr. Derrick is survived by his Wife: Kathleen “Kay” Derrick of Guntersville, Son & Daughter-in-Law: Kevin and Penny Derrick of Scottsboro, Grandchildren: Jonathan Burdine, Shani` & (Lee) Hughes, Meagan Burdine & (Jared Gill), Kelli & (Chris) Travis, Joshua Allen Derrick and Kevin David “KJ” Derrick, Jr , 10 Great Grandchildren, Sister & Brother-in-Law: Helen & Sheldon Smith of New York, Brother-in-Law: Sonny Dewey of Maine, Niece: Barb & Ron Kennel and Nephew: Jeffery & Christine Dewey. He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank & Frances Derrick.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Legion #8 1900 Henry St, Guntersville, AL 35976.
