With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Crawford Westover, who peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. To most people, he was David, but to those who loved him most, he was known as Sweet Daddy, Wormy, or Bubba. No matter what you called him, you knew exactly who he was—a one-of-a-kind man whose larger-than-life personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met. David was a man of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and unconditional love. He lived a life marked by kindness, integrity, and a servant’s heart, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His greatest joy was found in serving the Lord, loving his family, and investing in the lives of those around him.
If you knew David, you knew he was a loud mouth in the very best way. He was the center of attention, with a big heart, and a personality that could light up any room. He never met a stranger—everyone was simply a friend he hadn’t gotten to know yet. He loved to laugh, joke, tell stories, and keep everyone around him smiling. He was a dancing machine, loved a good party, and could always be counted on to make every gathering more fun just by being there. To his granddaughters, he was simply Pop Pop, a title he wore with incredible pride.
David was also famous for his cooking. If he fired up the grill, you knew there would be enough food to feed everyone and then some. His barbecue was something family and friends always looked forward to, and his homemade BBQ sauce was one of his signature specialties. No one ever left David’s house hungry because feeding people was one of the many ways he showed his love.
David loved the Tennessee Volunteers and was a big Tennessee Vols fan. Whether cheering on his team or sharing that love with those around him, his orange and white pride was something everyone knew about.
He also loved the freedom of riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, enjoying the open road and the memories made along the way.
He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a loving grandfather. He cherished every moment spent with his family, whether it was sharing stories, making people laugh, grilling out, riding his motorcycle, or simply being together. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved, and his presence brought comfort wherever he went. He was known for his love of the outdoors, his hardworking spirit, and his appreciation for the simple things in life.
And if you knew David, you also knew there was no convincing him otherwise—he firmly believed that a Ford truck was the best truck ever made. It was just one of the many things that made him uniquely himself.
Above all else, David loved Jesus. His faith was the foundation of his life and guided the way he loved, served, and cared for others. Even through life’s trials, he remained steadfast in his trust in God, leaving behind a legacy of faith that will continue to inspire generations.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Westover Jr. and Dessie Westover.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Tammy Westover; his daughter, Anna Diffee (Will); his son, Clay Westover (Abby); and his precious granddaughters, Ella Mae Diffee and Kaydee Lynn Diffee, who brought endless joy and love to his life. He is also survived by his brother, Grover Westover III (Judy), and his sister, Donna Mays (David), along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure the memories, laughter, stories, his famous BBQ sauce, the smell of food on the grill, and the unconditional love he shared with them.
Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we rejoice in knowing he has been made whole and is now walking the streets of gold, reunited with loved ones who have gone before him and forever in the presence of his Savior.
A visitation will be held on Thursday July 30, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Parkburg Baptist Church, with the funeral service immediately following. Interment will take place at the cemetery following the service.
