David Byers Profile PhotoIt is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Byers, who peacefully departed this life on February 15, 2024, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee. Born on October 17, 1946, in Hayesville, North Carolina, David was the beloved son of the late John and Robbie Byers.

David was a remarkable individual, cherished as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His life was a testament to his unwavering faith and his commitment to serving others. A devout member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church, David’s presence illuminated the congregation. He dedicated countless hours to his church, crafting props from scratch for productions and contributing his expertise to the audio-visual team.

Professionally, David excelled as a salesman at Mitchell for 38 years. His genuine care for people, coupled with his patience and sensitivity, made him an exceptional colleague and friend to many.

Outside of work and church, David found solace and joy in gardening, cultivating an impressive array of fruits and vegetables, with tomatoes being a particular favorite. He had a passion for gospel music and cherished the warmth and light of Christmas, finding joy in the festive season’s decorations and celebrations.

David leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his devoted wife, Connie Byers, his loving children, Sandra Foster (Gearld) and Christy Hensley (Patrick), his cherished grandchildren, Haley Foster, David Foster, Emily Hensley, and Lauren Hensley, and a great-grandchild on the way; and several special nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, David is reunited in death with his eight brothers and sisters. His memory will forever be treasured by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 19, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church. A service to celebrate David’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 2:00 PM, also at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church in Columbia, Tennessee, with Bro. Bob Vassar and Rush Harrison speaking. Burial will be private, attended only by family.

Honored to carry David to his final resting place, pallbearers will include Patrick Mount, Travis Choate, Joshua Harrison, Blake Choate, John McNeeley, and Glenn Angelle.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude, Pleasant Heights Baptist Church, or the Diabetes Association, in honor of David’s memory.

David’s life was a testament to kindness, faith, and love. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in eternal peace.
