David Bruce Briggs, Sr., born July 29, 1952, in Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 3:10am at Alice Hospice at the age of 73, after a long struggle with kidney failure and brain cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce W. Briggs and Mildred Briggs (aka Magie Madame Fifi of East Nashville) and his brother, Richard Steve Briggs. He graduated from Stratford High School in East Nashville in 1970. In 1976, David me the love of his life Patricia Joyce Briggs. David married the love of his life, Patricia on May 21, 1976, after an extended friendship. Together they built a life rooted in love, dedication and family. David spent much of his career serving and protecting others. He worked for 14 years with Metro Development and Housing as a mechanic supervisor and later worked at Sears until it’s closure. He went on to receive his Armed Guard licenses and worked as an Armed Guard throughout the Nashville area. He helped to guard the new Skyline Hospital before it was fully constructed. He later protected valuable country music artifacts at the old Hall of Fame building. He also served as a bodyguard for former Vice President, Al Gore. David will be remembered for his humor, strength, and deep love for his family. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Patricia Joyce Briggs, his children David Bruce Briggs, Jr. (Nichole) and Christopher Brian Briggs and his grandchildren Abigail Whitney Briggs and Madison Munday. A Celebration of his life will be held on Friday, evening May 1, 2026 in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House. Visitation is planned on Friday, May 1, 2026 4-7pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
