Darvin Edward Hurtt, age 73, of the Dogtown Community, passed away March 18, 2025 at his residence. Mr. Hurtt was born in Georgia on September 18, 1951 to the late Jerome E. and Bertha Arthur Hurtt. He retired from Vulcraft with 38 years of service and was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
His love for the community inspired him to join the Dogtown Volunteer Fire Department in 1979. He was the chief of the department for 25 years until he retired from the position. He was then appointed to the Board of Directors of the department where he served as its chairman.
Funeral services will be 12 noon, Thursday, March 20th, at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donnie Dover officiating. Burial will follow in the Walker’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home. The family is accepting flowers, or memorial donations may be made to the Dogtown Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Hurtt is survived by his children, Amy Farmer (David), Amanda Stansell (Brent), and Tracy Hurtt; brothers, Randolph and Roger Hurtt (Lynne); sister, Lisa Mackey (Ricky); grandchildren, Kacey Farmer, Tyler Farmer, Haylee Stansell, Allie Stansell, Lily Middlebrooks, Jake Middlebrooks, Karly Middlebrooks and Jonathon Stone; and great-grandchildren, Emery and Bryce Bailey.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Ann Hurtt.
