Darryl Thompson, age 71, of Detroit, AL, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025 at 6:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Detroit Carter Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 5:00pm until 6:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Detroit Carter Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 37, Detroit, AL 35552.

Darryl was born on September 19, 1953 in Amory, MS to the late Lecil Thompson and the late Opal Parker Thompson. He was a 1971 graduate of Sulligent High School, where he enjoyed playing football. Darryl was previously employed as a truck driver for Lamb Motors. He was known to be quite the talker, never meeting a stranger and always managed to make people smile with his jokes and charismatic whit. He genuinely loved people and was a great friend. Darryl had a fondness for animals, especially horses and enjoyed being outdoors on his tractor working. His tender heart and fun-loving spirit will always be cherished and greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. Darryl was a member of Unity Church of Detroit, AL.
