Funeral service for Darlene Sanders Ziegler, 73, of Decatur, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2019, at First Baptist Church, 123 Church St. NE, Decatur, with Dr. Gil McKee officiating. Spry Funeral Home directing.
Visitation is 9:30-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery.
Mrs. Ziegler died Thursday, March 28, 2019, in Tuscaloosa. She was born June 8, 1945, in Hartselle to Cora and Leonard Sanders.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Dave W. Ziegler.
Survivors include her son, Joe Ziegler and wife Andrea of Tuscaloosa; and two granddaughters, Addie and Sarah Ziegler of Tuscaloosa. Joe serves as worship pastor of First Baptist Tuscaloosa.
A longtime member of First Baptist Decatur, Darlene enjoyed singing in the choir, served on various committees and especially enjoyed the fellowship of the Sara Etheridge Sunday school class. She treasured the many friendships she had in her church family. Darlene’s love for music inspired many and was the environment in which her son discovered his calling to music ministry.
Mrs. Ziegler enjoyed a 37-year career in the Classified Advertising Department of the Decatur Daily. She loved her Daily family and the friendships she made over the years.
