Danny Smith, 72, of Thaxton, MS, passed away at his home Sunday, April 5, 2026, after a brief illness.
Danny was born August 16, 1953, in Jackson, MS to Emmitt Bruce Smith and Josie Ann Hamilton Smith. He attended Thaxton High school and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1971. He married Dale James on May 26, 1972. In addition to farming, over the years he worked at Ram Golf, Wilton Casting, Brookwood Furniture, Carnes Frames, Union County Health and Rehab, and LifeCore in Tupelo, MS.
He loved woodworking, working outdoors, and was always ready to help a friend. He loved his family and especially loved spending time with his granddaughters.
Services will be held at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc, MS at 2pm on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Visitation will be from noon until service time. Bro. Don Sparks will officiate. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Dale Smith; two daughters Jackie Smith Taylor and her husband Kenneth of Greenwood Springs, MS, Cory Smith Williams and her husband Josh of Hattiesburg, MS; two granddaughters, Ashleigh Taylor of Hattiesburg, MS and Abigail Taylor of Greenwood Springs, MS; two sisters, Debbie Cruse and her husband Neil, of Pontotoc, MS, Shelia Jolly and her husband Mike, of Thaxton, MS; one brother, Teddy Smith of McAlester, OK; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
