Danny Joe BalchDanny Joe Balch passed away January 13, 2026, at North Alabama Specialty Hospital in Huntsville. He was a lifetime resident and graduate of East Limestone. He was a 37 year retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service with most of his years at the GMF in Madison.

Mr. Balch was a Marine Corps. Veteran during the Vietnam War. He was part of the first Air Wing assigned to the U.S. naval carrier, U.S.S. America. They were accredited for taking out the first North Vietnamese Miegs.

He was a little league baseball coach and enjoyed coaching his sons and other young boys. He was an avid deer hunter and bass fisherman!

Danny leaves behind a wife, Carol, whom he just celebrated 54 years of marriage with on January 8th, 2026. He also leaves a sister, Teresa Balch, whom he was very close to.

He is preceded in death by son Joey Balch and Robby Balch, his brother Mach Balch, and parents Joe Balch and Martina Balch, as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and two special great-great-nieces.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the visitation for Danny on Friday, January 16th, 2026, from 9:00-10:45am, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 11:00am at Athens City Cemetery, with Eric Mattox officiating.
