Mr. Danny D. “Double D” Sanderson was a native of Marion County, Alabama, moved to Pensacola, Florida in 1975 and was a current resident of the Gateswood Community. He passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at the age of 75. Mr. Sanderson was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Army. He retired as an engineer after working for the railroad for over 33 years. “Double D” enjoyed fishing, restoring antique cars and trucks and farming on his tractor.
Mr. Sanderson was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Sanderson and Lorene Hollis; a brother, Mike Thompson and is survived by daughter, Tammy Sanderson Rogers (Bryan); son, Anthony Sanderson (Jana); devoted friend, Karen Lane; two sisters, Sandra Malone, Kathy Gossett; two brothers, Ricky Thompson, Drenon Otts; five grandchildren, Joshua Sanderson, Matthew Rogers, Jacob Rogers, Kaylee Sanderson, Rory Sanderson and one great grandchild, Clay Rogers.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hamilton Baptist Church, Robertsdale, AL with Rev. Allen Cotton officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with burial in the Hamilton Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be made to the Danny Thomas charity – St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
