Danny “Brownie” Franks, 60, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 3, 2025, in Dry Creek, MS. He was born December 10, 1964, in Tupelo, to Billy Wayne and Alma Ruth Roebuck Franks. He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. He worked on the sign crew at MDOT. He enjoyed to running dogs, judging field trials, pulling ponies, and going to rodeos. He was an avid conversationalist and story teller, and loved Alabama football.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Bobby Humphres and Bro. Tommy Wilbanks officiating. Burial will be in the Mantachie Cemetery.
Survivors include his mother, Ruth Franks; two daughters, Kasey Lunceford (Kevin) of Mantachie and Kim Franks of Mooreville; three brothers, Travis Franks (Karen) of Mooreville, Jamie Franks (Lori) of Dorsey, and Jimmy Dale Franks (Carrie) of Kirkville; one sister, Renea Franks of Mooreville; six grandchildren, Jasper, Trinity, Tuff, Jacklynn, R.J., and Kerrigan; two aunts, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Wayne Franks; and his grandparents, James and Cleo Roebuck and W.A. and Mary Evie Franks.
Pallbearers will be Lane Fugitt, Robert “Cupcake” Sutherland, Brad Underwood, Jerry “Gomer” Wiggington, Steve Bishop, and Laine Mason.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Peaceful Valley Hunting Club, Calvery Rodeo Company, and his MDOT Co-Workers.
Visitation will be Monday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
