Mrs. Danna Martin Thompson, 86, of Florence, passed away December 29, 2023 at North Alabama Medical Center. She was a wonderful mother and a loving wife.
There will be a private graveside service on Tuesday January 2, 2024 with brother Ricky Berger officiating.
She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Son, Carter Price Thompson, Brother, Jim Martin and Sister, Connie Dreher.
Survivors include her Husband, Dr. James F. Thompson Jr. of Florence, AL., Sons; James “Forrest” Thompson of Atlanta, GA, and Dan Martin Thompson (Angela) of Huntsville, AL. Sisters; Betty McGuire of Monticello, AR., and Pat Nerren and Miss Myrna Martin both of Franklin, TN, Grandchildren; Nathan Thompson, Natalie Thompson and Nicolas Thompson all of Huntsville, AL., and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Thompson was a Registered Nurse and a member of the Service League of Florence. She was also a member of the Florence Garden Club and a Red Cross volunteer for several decades. Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Church of Christ, serving both the Poplar Street and Wood Avenue Churches of Christ.
Mrs. Thompson was always fond of flowers and hummingbirds and loved playing Duplicate Bridge and had a talent for hand-painting china.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Lyman Mitchell for the care he provided for Danna in her time of need.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that her friends and family members make a donation to the American Cancer Society or the charity of their choice.
