Funeral service for Daniel “Dan” Edwin Jones, age 77, of Decatur, will be held Monday, December 4, 2023 at 12:00PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Aaron Kretzchmar officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Alabama National Cemetery. He passed away November 28, 2023 at his residence. Shelton Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Dan was born August 28, 1946 to Andrew S. Jones and Louise Argend Jones in Morgan County.
He worked for Boeing for 25 years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran from 1967 to 1970. He was an avid University of Alabama Fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Shari Gaus Jones, daughter, Jennifer Jones Kimmett (Michael), two grandchildren, Matthew Kimmett and Katelyn Kimmett, brother, Andrew Jones (Cynthia Gaus Jones), several nieces and nephews.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Hospice of the Valley.
