Dan Wiley Honeycutt, 76, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville, MS. Born July 27, 1944 in Alcorn County, he was the son of the late Looney L. and Minnie Virginia Walker Honeycutt. He attended Snowdown UMC in Tishomingo County and was a member of Pleasant Hill UMC in Alcorn County. Dan was a kind and loving husband, father and brother. He was retired from Fisher Oil Company. He was a 1962 graduate of Kossuth High School and attended Northeast MS Junior College. He was a Vietnam War veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force between December 1965 and December 1971 when he received his honorable discharge with the rank of Sgt. He served on a AC130 transport plane in the 314th Air Command, 772nd Squadron and was stationed in the Philippine Islands. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Mary Comer Honeycutt; two daughters, Susan Hendrix and Angela Hendrix Hester (Dale) and son James M. Hendrix of Iuka, MS; grandchildren Bethany Holcomb, Hillary Jackson (Jimmy), Shalene Hendrix and Dakota Hester and nine great grandchildren; mother-in-law, Frances Comer; brothers Robert L. “Bob” Honeycutt (Sue) of Booneville, Michael D. “Wayne” Honeycutt (Barbara) of Kossuth; sister Jimmie Lee Honeycutt Whitt of Mathiston, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents; his paternal grandparents, Jessie Green and Cora Jane Phillips Honeycutt and his maternal grandparents, Kendall and Madgie Odell Dilworth Walker; brother-in-law, Jimmy Whitt. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with the arrangements. Service times are incomplete and will be posted when they are available.
