Funeral services for Dalton Lee Burnett, 69, will be today at 2 p.m. at Jackson Memory Funeral Home, Town Creek, with Brother Tim Sawyer and Brother Tim Brannon officiating. The family will receive visitors just before the service from 12:30 to 2 p.m. following the service. Interment will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery, Moulton. Reception will follow at Cottontown Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Burnett died at his home on Wednesday, July 6. He was born in Moulton, Alabama on July 11, 1946, to Bennie and Mary Alice Terry Burnett. He was retired from GM after 36 years of employment beginning in 1965 in Pontiac, Michigan. Mr. Burnett accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of 12 at Five Points Community Church, Auburn Hills, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his father, Bennie Burnett.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Bonnie Terry Burnett, Leighton; mother, Mary Alice Burnett, Pontiac, Michigan; four sisters, Mary Miracle, Lapeer, Michigan, Bridget Slade, Clarkston, Michigan, Brenda Scott, Bradenton, Florida, and Darlene Burnett, Davidson, Michigan. He is also survived by two daughters, Tara Smith (Murry), Cordova, Tennessee, and Amber Williams, Decatur; one son, Aaron Burnett (Jamie), Sheffield; and grandchildren, Ethan Smith, Porter Smith, Emma Smith, Pierce Smith, Cole May, Keith Williams, Austin Williams, Autumn Keeton, Ben Keeton, Austin Keeton, Angelina Burnett, Aiden Burnett, and Kadence Burnett. Grandsons will be pallbearers.
Mr. Burnett is also survived by his father-in-law, Ben Wallace Terry, and many friends.
