D. C. Waddell Sr. – Obituary

D. C. Waddell Sr., 90, of Rogersville, Ala., died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at ECM Hospital in Florence. Services were noon Tuesday at Spry Funeral Home Chapel in Athens, Ala. Visitation was 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at Spry Funeral Home in Athens. Burial was in Higgins Cemetery. Vic Vickers and James Waddell officiated. Memorials may be made to Rogersville Senior Center. Mr. Waddell was born Dec. 6, 1922, in Lauderdale County. He was retired from Economy Forms, was a WWII Navy veteran and Council Member of the Senior Citizens of Rogersville. The family would like to thank Dr. Gaputis, Dr. Balbecki and the Rogersville Senior Center.

Survivors are wife, Nadine Waddell, of Rogersville; sons, D. C. Waddell Jr. and wife, Martha, of Killen, and James Waddell and wife, Linda, of Rogersville; daughter, Shelby Tucker, of Rogersville; stepdaughters, Jimmie Ann Hinton and husband, Mack, of Rogersville, Judi Wilson and husband, Ronnie, of Addison and Cathy Hickey and husband, Mike, of Cullman; sister, Inita Hamby, of Elkmont; brothers, Talmadge Waddell, of Athens, and Clifton Waddell, of Decatur; eight grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Jeff Waddell, Shane Waddell, Tyler Waddell, Dennis Tucker, Jamey Waddell and Marty Hinton. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Waddell, Wes Shirley and Will Shirley.
