Curtis R. Wilbanks – Obituary

Curtis R. Wilbanks, resident of the Ripley Community, retired Kelloggs employee and U.S. Army Veteran, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis following an accidental fall at his residence earlier in the week.
Funeral Services, with Military Honors for Mr. Wilbanks will be at 2 PM Tuesday January 9 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with his pastor, Bro. Clyde Davis officiating.
Mr. Wilbanks was born February 15, 1934 in Tippah County, the son of the late Harvey and Frankie Davis Wilbanks. He received his education in the Shady Grove School System and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Wilbanks was married in 1956 to his beloved wife, Jean Brown Wilbanks, retired owner of Jean’s Jewelry, Craft and Florist in Ashland, who survives.
Mr. Wilbanks was a loyal and dedicated employee of the Kellogg Corporation for 30 years before his retirement and was a member of New Life Mission Church in Tippah County. He will be remembered as a family oriented person who enjoyed horses, dogs and guns. Mr. Wilbanks had a love for the outdoors that included gardening and “piddling” around on his favorite tractor.
Visitation will continue Tuesday until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, survivors include three daughters, Jan Gregory (Patrick) and Theresa Wilson (Murray), both of Olive Branch and Carrie Barrows of Ripley, three sons, Randy Wilbanks of Ripley, Robby Wilbanks (Rhonda) of Mobile, AL and Mike Wilbanks ( Rachael) of Rozet, WY, two sisters, Juanita Beard of Byhalia and Hilda Shelton (Edwin) of Ripley, two brothers, Charles Wilbanks (Ruby) of Manasses, VA and Neal Wilbanks (Beth) of Ripley, twelve grandchildren Robby, Chad, Megan and Dillon Wilbanks, Disney Sparks, Brittanie Settlemires, Chelsea Conlee, Tristan, McKenzie and Coen Barrows, Ashley Brewer and Caiden Britt and nine great grandchildren, Destiny, Bailey, Tyler, Alyssa, Casen, Drake, Terry, Jr., Zoe and Kenzie.
Mr. Wilbanks was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Wayne Wilbanks and two grandchildren Austen and Caiden Barrows.
