curtisCurtis Lee Sledge Sr. “Hawk,” 92, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, in the Hospice Care Center. He was a native of Leighton, Alabama, and was a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church there. He was a World War II Army veteran and retired from TVA after many years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hester Sledge, and four siblings.
Survivors include his son, Curtis Sledge Jr.; daughters, Hester Johnson, Janice Sledge and Linda (Reuben) Fifer; stepchildren, Vickie (Earl) Jones, Gwen (Wayne Sr.) Westmoreland and Ray Sledge, all of Chattanooga; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be today from 2 p.m. to follow with life celebration from 3-5 p.m. in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home. Burial will be Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
