Curtis Elton Wade, age 84, passed away peacefully on June 14th, 2019 with family by his side in Huntsville, Alabama.
Curtis, known to most as Buck, was born on February 8, 1935, in Collins, MS. He graduated Rocky Creek High School and continued his education at Perkinston Junior College, where he studied engineering. Buck first served in the National Guard before joining the U.S. Army in 1954 where he reached the rank of Sergeant E5 before leaving in 1958. He then went on to work at Redstone Arsenal for 35 years and was a member of the American Legion.
Buck was a hardworking man that enjoyed several hobbies, such as: basketball, baseball, bowling, hunting, and skeet shooting. He was fond of saying, “you should never miss a free throw because it’s a free shot.”
Buck was preceded in death by his parents, Davis C. Wade and Theresa McDaniel Wade of Lucedale, MS; his brother, Carroll (Margaret) Wade of Theodore, AL; his sister, Linda Loffredo of Johnston, RI; and brother-in-law, Carlton Jackson of Convers, LA.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine A. Wade; sons, Curt (Julie) Wade of Huntsville, Mark (Karla) Wade of New Hope, and Brent Wade of Madison; grandchildren, Sarah Wade, Emily Wade, Hunter Wade, and Theresa Wade all of Huntsville; sisters, Jewelda (Jack) Chiarini of Johnston, RI, Barbara (Grady) Cochran of Lucedale, MS, Beverly Jackson of DeRidder, LA, Gussie (James) Vise of Lucedale, MS; brother-in-law, Andrew Loffredo of Johnston, RI; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m in the chapel with the Pastor Tom Lewis, of Copeland Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Copeland Presbyterian Cemetery. (www.laughlinservice.com)
