Curtis Dean Chesser, 85, of Powder Springs, Georgia, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026, at his daughters’ home in Fort Payne, Alabama. He was born August 13, 1940 in Georgia to the late John B. Chesser and Pauline Hulsey Chesser. Mr. Chesser enjoyed being outside working in his garden and tending his lawn. He was known for his light display and handcrafted wooden yard art at Christmas, as well as baking sweet treats such as buckeye candy and oatmeal cookies. He also enjoyed fishing, all things Nascar, and playing card games with his family.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Central time, Thursday, April 23rd at Wilson Funeral Home in Fort Payne with Rev. Shaunathan Bell officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 p.m. until the 4 p.m. hour of service. Burial will follow on Friday at 2 p.m. Eastern time at Crest Lawn Memorial Park, 2000 Marietta Blvd. NW, Atlanta, GA.
He is survived by his wife Terri Chesser of Powder Springs, GA; children Curtis “Ben” Chesser, Ohio, Tony Chesser, Alabama, Connie Brown, and Dena Battenberg, both of Fort Payne, Alabama; step-daughter Lauren Gossett of Georgia; grandchildren Sophia, Greyson, Arabella, Kallie, Jackson, Donte, Peyshance, Heather, and Christopher; several great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Charles Chesser and sister Shirley Elkins.
Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Payne is in charge of arrangements.
