Funeral services for Rev. Curtis A. Lacey, age 63 of Millerville, will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Bethel Christian Church with Rev. Jim Arnall, Rev. Wade Price, Rev. David Hester, and Kris Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Methodist Protestant Bible Church Cemetery at 2:00 P.M.
Rev. Lacey passed away Friday, April 12, 2019 at Clay County Hospital. He was a native of Clay County where he had lived most of his life, and graduated in the class of ’73 from Bibb Graves High School. Rev. Lacey felt the calling of the Lord, and was saved on June 22, 1974, and answered the call to preach in July of 1974. During his 45 years of serving the Lord, he pastored at several churches in Alabama and Mississippi. He had also worked at Spring Valley Poultry Plant, Russell Manufacturing. While living in Meza, Arizona, he was working for the NCO Club at Williams Airforce base and also at a nearby church as a youth pastor. From 1998 until his retirement, Rev. Lacey had a long career as a truck driver for multiple businesses, and later was the owner/operator of Hill Top Trucking Company for four years. He was a Volunteer Fireman, and had served as an Associate Pastor at Bethel Christian Church.
Rev. Lacey is survived by his wife of 40 years, Celeste H. Lacey; one son, Adam Lacey; two sisters: Karen Parsons (James) and Martha S. Patterson (Charles); two brothers: Ronnie Lacey (Billie) and Johnnie Lacey (Cindy), and three grandchildren: Tyler Lacey, Justin Stewart, and Grace Stewart, all of Millerville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Floyd Lacey and Sewillow Williams Lacey, one brother, Calvin Lacey, and two infant sisters.
John Lacey, Chris Lacey, Kris Taylor, Jeromy Suggs, Michael Wayne Jordan, and Steve Parsons will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Marvin Lanthrip, Tristen Taylor, Josh Taylor, Neal Anderson, Nelson Whitman, and Luke Burkehalter.
The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland on Monday, April 15, 2019 from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Rev. Lacey will lie in state at Bethel Christian Church from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 11:00 A.M.
