Curlie Mae MetcalfeCurlie Mae Metcalfe, age 66, of San Diego, CA, formerly of Sulligent, AL, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024 in San Diego, CA . Burial was held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 in the Reedus Cemetery in Sulligent, AL.

 

Curlie Mae Metcalfe was born on May 16, 1958 in Sulligent, AL to the union of proud parents, Troyned Metcalfe and Potras Hollis Metcalfe.  She was in the eighth of nine children.  She started early elementary school in Sulligent.  After the Lord called her mother to her home going in 1964, Curlie moved to Oakland, California in 1966 where she continued her elementary school.  She moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but moved back to Oakland where she continued her schooling at Elmhearst Middle School and on to Castlemont High School where she graduated.  Curlie confessed and accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at 37th First Baptist Church in Oakland.  Curlie worked several jobs in Oakland.  She moved to San Diego and worked several jobs until her health started going down.  Curlie was the proud mother of three children, five grandchildren, and a great grandchild.  She loved her family dearly.  She was very outgoing, loved her family and friends, and really enjoyed cooking, eating, joking and laughing, and traveling around.  On July 11, 2024, the Lord looked down and smiled on her and picked a beautiful rose from his flower garden and said come to me all who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest, Matthew 11:28.

 

Curlie was preceded in death by her parent;Mother, Potras, Father, Troyned, Grandparents; Will and Jetty Hollis, Paul and Mariah Metcalfe,  Sisters; Joyce Devell, Roylene, Marilyn Joyce, Brothers; Cerell, Baby Boy.

 

Curlie leaves to cherish her loving memory, Daughters; Tinera of Virginia and Tieshia of San Diego, Son; Timothy of San Diego, Sister; Flora of Oakland and Jackie of Alabama, Brother; Troy (Pat) of Oakland, Grandchildren; Damon Jr., Dialo, Darien, Detayia and King, Great Grand Child; Dialo Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
