Cressa Phillips Holaway, age 97 of Arab the Hopewell Community, passed away on Sunday March 31, 2019 at Barfield Healthcare of Arab.
Mrs. Holaway was born November 2, 1921 in Blount County Alabama to Tom Phillips and Stella Fortenberry Phillips. Mrs. Holaway was married to the late J.D. Holaway who passed on December 15, 2013. She was self employed as a cosmetologist until her retirement, where she continued her love for organic gardening, tending to flowers and traveling. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Holaway was the oldest living member of Hopewell Baptist Church at the time of her passing.
She is survived by her daughters & son-in-laws, Linda Jane Minor & Joe of Joppa, Vickie Ann Gentry & Jimmy of Albertville; grandchildren, Donnie Weaver & Jana, Janna Whisenant & Richard, DeAnn Gentry & Mark Hane; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.D. Holaway; brothers, Floyd Phillips, William Phillips; sisters, Mammie Maze, Effie Johnson and Alene Holaway.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday April 3, 2019 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Brother Greg Stone and Brother Ennis Stone, officiating. Burial will take place at the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday April 2, 2019 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
