Craig Benny Wilson, 69, fought a long hard battle with cancer but went peacefully onto his eternal home on Saturday, December 7, 2024. He was born in Baldwyn on February 18, 1955, to the late Arnold and Catherine Boren Wilson. He received his education from the Lee County Public School System.

Throughout his life, Craig believed in the old saying, “any day the sun comes up is a good day.” He took advantage of those good days caring for his family most and loved spending time and teaching those that called him “Pop Pop” about the simple things in life from taking them Kayaking to even building them and obstacle course. Craig was a selfless, humble, generous, funny and talkative man. He never met a stranger and always put others first. Craig knew the true riches in life were keeping things simple, working hard, helping your neighbors, supporting and loving your family, and trusting the Lord with all your heart.

A little on the adventurous side, Craig enjoyed running marathons, hiking the Glacier National Park and Smokey Mountains and even took off and ran 48 miles of the Natchez Trace in one day. He was a championship dog trainer, an avid outdoorsman and artist, but his biggest love was his pottery business, “Poplar Ridge Pottery”, that he and his wife, Tracy, shared on Etsy and through various art shows. They didn’t realize the impact a piece of pottery would have on a person until they started reading their reviews. It was then that Craig and Tracy knew all their hard work had paid off and that their pottery touched so many lives. Their artwork will live on through the vision in other eyes.

Those left to cherish Craig’s memories include his loving wife since October 8, 1993, Tracy Wilson, one son, Drew Wilson (Deborah) of Clarksville, TN, two daughters, Morgan Taylor, (Joey) of College Grove, TN and Paige Robbins (Austin) of Nettleton, one brother, Ben Wilson (Dana) of Tupelo, one sister, Tina Burtt of Ocean Springs and his most precious jewels, his grandchildren, Ava, Elie, Harley, Ethan, Case, and Lucy.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Holland Funeral Directors is honored to serve Craig’s family and friends.
