Coy Everett Burnett – Obituary

Coy Everett Burnett went home to be with his Lord early on the morning of Wednesday, April 04, 2016. Coy loved being outside, working in his garden, and tinkering with his tillers and lawn mowers. He was greatly loved by all his family and friends and will be missed by everyone who knew him.

The visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 05, 2016 at Tharptown Friendship Holiness Church. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 06, 2016 at Tharptown Friendship Holiness Church with Bro. William Mears officiating. Burial will follow at Hyde Cemetery in Littleville.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 47 years, Sue Ellen Vandiver Burnett; children, Misty Dawn Turbyfill (husband, Daniel); James Coy Burnett (wife, Tammy), Melba Dean Burnett Hollins (husband, Ronald), JoAnn Cagel (husband, Frankie); grandchildren, Alicia Turbyfill, Amber Turbyfill, Whitney Turbyfill, Peyton Turbyfill, Abigail Burnett, Austin Burnett, Shelby Hollins, Dillon Hollins, Jordan Hollins, Joseph Cagle, Christy Cagle, Brandy Cagle; siblings, Roy Burnett, Martha Farr (husband, Joe); and a host of nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dock Burnett; mother, Martha Della Weeks Burnett; brother, Hubert Burnett; sisters, Mary West, Vita Warhurst; nephew, Dewayne Burnett; and sister-in-law, Ruth Ashley Burnett.

The pallbearers will be Daniel Turbyfill, Ronald Hollins, Joseph Cagle, Chad Riley, Shane Smith, and Mark Edmond. The honorary pallbearers will be Austin Burnett, Dillon Hollins, and Jordan Hollins.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Dr. Santos and his staff, the nurses and staff of Gentiva Hospice; as well as to the many friends, neighbors, and family who has helped throughout his sickness.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the funeral expense of Coy Burnett, c/o Spry Memorial Chapel, PO Box 246, Russellville, AL 35653.
