American Songwriter calls Mark Collie “one of country          music’s most enduring singers, songwriters, and actors.” The country legend’s hits include “Even the Man in the Moon Is Crying,” and his most recent album is the 2021 concept piece Book of My Blues.

Collie is also a venerated songwriter, whose songs have been recorded by stars such as Tim McGraw, Martina McBride, Garth Brooks, Billy Ray Cyrus, Aaron Tippin, and George Jones.

Opening for Collie will be Billy Lawson and Wishbone. Lawson is a singer, songwriter, producer, and owner of Wishbone Recording Studio in Muscle Shoals.

Susann Hamlin, President/CEO of Colbert County Tourism, says that this concert is part of a larger effort to bring more live entertainment to the area, both for residents and visiting guests. The organization is hosting a monthly “Songwriters in the Round” event, with most events taking place at Champy’s.

“Billy Lawson of Wishbone Studios is our host each month and has been able to book some amazingly talented songwriters this year,” says Hamlin. “We are fortunate to have the historic Ritz Theatre here in Sheffield and wanted to utilize this wonderful venue. We hope that by having a major artist and performer such as Mark Collie perform, others will follow. Colbert County Tourism is delighted to partner with the Ritz Theatre for this fundraiser concert event.”
