Cortense W. Tanner – Obituary

Cortense W. Tanner, 79, of Cherokee, Alabama, died Monday, February 17, 2014, at Helen Keller Hospital. Mrs. Tanner was a member of Margerum Community Church, and was a former employee of the Iuka Hospital and Robbins Jewelry. She also previously worked at Piggly Wiggly and Fred’s. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and neighbor. Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 noon, Thursday, February 20, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Rod Stansky and Bro. Donovan Cain. Interment will follow in Douthitt Cemetery. Pallbearers include Tony Williams, Todd Williams, Mike Worsham, Dustin Puckett, Jeff Butler, James Butler, and Byrum Graves. Visitation is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Thursday. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include one son, Barry Tanner of Iuka, MS; one daughter, Deborah Hellums and husband, Mike, of Cherokee, AL; and one grandchild, Emilee Tanner Hellums of Huntsville, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Tanner; a daughter-in-law, Dale Tanner; her parents, Jesse and Hilda Worsham; three brothers, Ervin, James, and Vernon Worsham; and a sister, Imogene Graves.
