Cornelia Anne Cannon
September 1, 1934 – May 12, 2020

Anne was born to William Joseph McMurphy and Mary Price McMurphy, September 1, 1934 in Louisville, AL. She graduated from Escambia County High School, Atmore, AL in 1952 and received a Bachelor of Education from Troy State University in 1956. She married Richard Reynolds Cannon in 1962 and they lived together in Memphis, TN; Johnson City, TN, and Huntsville, AL. Together they raised three boys.

She leaves as her legacy 3 children, Christopher Todd Cannon (Beth Morphew Cannon), Richard Bradley Cannon (Cindy Jackson Cannon), George William Cannon (Alison Robinson Cannon). Her children remember her as a fun, joyful and faithful mother. She relished time with her grandchildren: Caroline Anne Cannon, William Reynolds Cannon, Christopher Price Cannon, Keaton Anne Cannon.

She was preceded in death by Mary Nell McMurphy Bowden (sister).

Anne was a Teacher until she married and was passionate about affecting the most positive change in her students. She was a member of Rotary-Ann, Greater Huntsville Humane Society, Huntsville Symphony Guild, Broadway Theater League, Huntsville High Football Boosters and several other community organizations.

A Celebration of Life for Anne will be held at a later date at Covenant Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Second Mile Development 2710 Holmes Ave P.O. Box 2531, Huntsville AL 35804 at https://secondmile.net and Greater Huntsville Humane Society at https://ghhs.org . The family would also like to thank Reverend David Kling of Covenant Presbyterian Church for presiding over the family service.
