Born: October 30, 1927
Died: January 02, 2015

Mrs. Corene Goodloe passed away at ECM Hospital on Friday, January 2, 2015. She was the third of seven siblings born to the marital union of the late Mr. Nelson Goodloe and the late Mrs. Mary Lucy Watkins Goodloe. Those preceding her in death was a brother Mr. Curtis Goodloe; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Goodloe Parker and Mrs. Francis Goodloe Johnson.

Mrs. Vaughn graduated from Cherokee High School. She received certification as a Laboratory Technician and was employed at Internal Medicine Associates of Florence, Alabama for thirty years. After her retirement she was a dedicated volunteer at the Florence Senior Citizen’s program. She also received many certificates of recognition for excellent performance during seminars and work-shops.

The most evident of her skills in performing her work came from testimonies from the patients she served. Corene accepted Christ at a very young age. From the time of her acceptance she never wavered from her love of the Lord and her church. She became a member of Zion No. 1 Church at her conversion. She served well at Zion during her seventy or more years during her membership there.

Until her illness she was a regular attendant. Mrs. Vaughn’s church attendance was as dedicated.

Mrs. Vaughn had a vision that the church history should be recorded. Having lived many of the years herself she sought facts from other older members. After compiling the facts she solicited the service of Dr. Chasie Reynolds who edited the first written record. As time passed and as the history was rewritten and revised some facts were changed while others were omitted. However, it was through her vision that the history remains.

Another vision Mrs. Vaughn came to fruition was the Nurses Guild. Having worked in the medical field, she was aware of the need for same.

A meeting was called and Mrs. Sandra Gilbert RN was invited to guide the groups and thus the Nurse’s Guild became a reality and is still active today. Her heart, soul and body were engulfed in Zion No. 1.
She was always a great supporter of her spiritual leaders, but most of all her love of people, her kind and friendly personality was imminent of one who loves the Lord.

Mrs. Vaughn leaves a family to cherish the legacy she left behind. She was the recipient of much love shown by family as well as friends.
