Cora Edna “Granny” Peppers, age 92, Phil Campbell, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at ECM Hospital.
Mrs. Peppers was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was known as “Granny” from the time she was five years old, and over the years she was Granny to everyone that knew her. She self-taught herself to play the piano, which she played in church for several years. She was an excellent seamstress, making beautiful clothes, quilts, and teddy bears from quilts and was an excellent cook. After retiring from Kelwood, she spent time babysitting, sewing and spending time with her family. She always worked hard and was loved by everyone who knew her. She attended church at First Baptist Church in Phil Campbell.
The visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2015 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Spry Memorial Chapel, with Bro. Tim Haney officiating. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery in Phil Campbell.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Donna Phelps (husband, Butch), Richard Peppers, Wanda F. Peppers, Alton Peppers, Larry Peppers (wife, Wanda J.); 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Smith; sister, Becky Wilbanks; and a host of nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Melburn Peppers; parents, Robert Franklin & Ollie (Cowart) Smith; 7 brothers & sisters, Ninon Marbutt, Leonard Smith, Louise Burkhardt, Roy Smith, Sue Barnes, Gwen Chandler, Buford Smith (who was killed in action in Vietnam); 2 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
The pallbearers will be grandsons, Bryan Phelps, Charlie Peppers, Kitt Garrison, Kyle Peppers, Tyler Peppers; and nephew, David Barnes.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Terrace Manor Nursing Home, Dr. Felix Morris and Dr. Gary Hester for the love and care shown our mother over the years.
