coon dogsLACEY’S SPRING– Coon hound field trials, sanctioned by the United Kennel Club, are Friday and Saturday, starting at 7:30 both nights at the Tennessee River Coon Hunters Association club house in Lacey’s Spring.

The president of the group, Herb Fields,, said the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge will be open for the event.

Entry fee is $25 per dog with part of the proceeds going toward the completion of the community storm shelter at Lacey’s Spring.

The highest-scoring dog for both nights will be proclaimed the Tennessee River Champion, and the handler will receive a 36-inch tall trophy.

“We’re anticipating 20 dogs per night, but we could have more if the weather is good,” Fields said.
