Corrine (Polly) Melicks Lindsey passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 after an extended illness. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 11a.m. in Oakwood Cemetery in Sheffield with Morrison Funeral Home directing. Service will be conducted by her grandson, Bradley Hamm.
Mrs. Lindsey worked for Reynolds Metal Company prior to getting married and raising five children. Reynolds Metal Company is where she met her husband of 55 years, Joe Kenneth Lindsey, even though they lived a block from each other on St. Louis Avenue in Sheffield. Later in her life after her children grew up, she went back to work as City of Sheffield’s Court Clerk for 13 years. Mrs. Lindsey was a life-long member of the First Methodist Church in Sheffield where she enjoyed working with the youth groups and preparing food for weekly MYF meetings.
Mrs. Lindsey lived and enjoyed the last year and a half at Morningside Assisted Living in Sheffield. The family would like to thank all the employees at Morningside that made her days so enjoyable. We would also like to thank Mitchell-Hollingsworth and Southern Care Hospice for their care and attention during her final month. Special thanks to Dr. George Evans and Dr. David McKinley.
Mrs. Lindsey was preceded in death by her husband Joe Kenneth Lindsey, Sons Barry Kenneth (Kenny) Lindsey and Matthew Jay Lindsey, Brother, Frank Melicks, Sister, Ruth Melicks Slay.
Mrs. Lindsey is survived by a daughter; Pamela Jo Lindsey Hamm (Jerry) Muscle Shoals – Sons; Leslie Gene Lindsey (Anna) Tuscumbia – Jeffrey Philip Lindsey (Meg) Fort Mill, South Carolina, Daughter-in-Laws; Nancy Lindsey, Killen – Barbara Lindsey, Florence – Six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Jean Milstead Ware, niece and close friend.
Pallbearers will be: Joey Lindsey, Bradley Hamm, Brian Walker, and Will Lindsey.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the City of Sheffield Policemen past and present.
