Logo Icon  Columbus Eugene Haley age 79 of the Keltonburg Community was born in McMinnville, on October 3, 1946, to his parents, the late Columbus and Jean Cantrell Haley and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, July 5, 2026.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.  Eugene worked at Caney Fork Electric for 29 years as a lineman and foreman.  He was also a farmer.  He was a lifelong member of the Keltonburg United Methodist Church, where he served in many capacities through the years.  Eugene served on the DeKalb County Volunteer Fire Department for many years and was an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Department.  A man that loved the Lord, his family, church and community and was always willing to help his fellow man.  He leaves to cherish 61 years of marriage and memories, his wife that he cared for and loved, Diane Haley; his two daughter, Chandra (Joe) Adcock and Gina (Dennis) Arnold; and the ones that were honored to call him Papa, his seven grandchildren, Kealah (Dylan) Pelfrey, Adam Arnold, Jordan (Molly) Arnold, Bryson Arnold, Sam Arnold, Clark (Natalie) Adcock and Shara Adcock and his great-grandson, Gauge Pack; special friend, Billy (Wendy) Stacy.  Funeral services celebrating his life will be 3 PM Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at the Keltonburg United Methodist Church with Bros. Mike Neal and Mike Hale officiating and burial will follow in the Keltonburg Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Tuesday 4 PM until 7 PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and on Wednesday 12 Noon until the time of the service at 3 PM at the Keltonburg United Methodist Church.  The family would like to express a special Thank You to the caregivers, Trina Hedge, Janice Stewart and Tanna Harris and to Gentiva Hospice for the care and love shown to Eugene.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Haley family.
