Colon Hershel  Thompson

Colon “Hershel” Thompson, 92 of Ackerman, Ms. passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024, at the VA Nursing Home in Kosciusko, Ms. with his wife by his side. Hershel was born on July 21, 1931, in Oktibbeha County to the late James B. Thompson and Vevie Mae Edwards Thompson.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his daughter Connie Jean Thompson Dempsey, one brother James Edward, and four sisters, Mary virginia, Glenda Faye, Charlsie, and Marilyn.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years Patricia “Pat” Beverly Thompson, of Ackerman, Ms. Daughter Beverly Thompson Rowan of Starkville, Ms. (3) Grandchildren, Sonya (Ashley) Anderson of West Point, Ms., Tyiece (Steven) Woodward of Oklahoma. Tony (Lisa)Berryman of Alabama. (10) Great Grandchildren and (10) Great-Great Grandchildren. (2) sisters Linda and Jean

The family would like to thank the VA Nursing Home of Kosciusko, Ms. and Halcyon Hospice of Philadelphia, Ms. for the care and support that they gave Mr. Thompson during his brief time as a resident there.

Funeral and visitation arrangements will be at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, Ms. on Sunday January 28, 2024, Visitation hours are from 1:00-2:00 p.m. the Funeral will immediately follow visitation in the funeral home chapel with Minister Clifton Curtis.

In lieu of flowers and/or donations, the family would like it to be donated in memory of Hershel Thompson to the Alzheimer’s Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl 17, Chicago, IL 60601
